The Washington Housing Conservancy (WHC) further advances its mission to preserve affordable housing throughout the Washington, DC region with its second acquisition. In partnership with NHT Communities, WHC purchased Hamilton Manor, a 245-unit apartment community in rapidly growing Hyattsville in Prince George’s County. The purchase was made possible through the Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Right of First Refusal Program. The community at 3342 Lancer Drive is managed by JBG SMITH, a real estate agency that supports WHC’s mission to disrupt a market cycle that leads to displacement and offer stability so residents can focus on their future, instead of the uncertainty of escalating rents.
With this acquisition of Hamilton Manor, WHC is nearly a third of the way towards its goal to preserve 3,000 affordable units in communities of racially diverse middle- and low-income families and individuals. To learn more about Hamilton Manor, please see articles featuring this story in the Commercial Observer and the Washington Business Journal.
