Sawa Kamara
Sawa Kamara joined Washington Housing Conservancy in April 2023 as a Social Impact Coordinator. Sawa has been a longtime advocate for standardized housing. As cofounder and former president of a civic organization, she successfully developed and implemented a strong community improvement plan which continues to bear fruit for those who were previously marginalized and/or disenfranchised. Her boots on the ground experience includes her work in community healthcare, where Sawa advocated for and aided patients in navigating the system, utilizing available resources, and receiving quality care.
Sawa studies Public Policy and International Development at the University of Maryland College Park. As one of the recipients of the coveted Truman Scholarship, Sawa plans to continue her higher education while retaining her hands on advocacy work in some of the hardest hit communities.
